Doris Lessing received the 2007 Nobel Prize in Literature for that epicist of the female experience, who with scepticism, fire and visionary power has subjected a divided civilisation to scrutiny. This work opened new questions and influenced later research and practice. This achievement represents one of the major advances recognized in literature at the time.
