Physics · 1973
Brian D. Josephson received the 1973 Nobel Prize in Physics for his theoretical predictions of the properties of a supercurrent through a tunnel barrier, in particular those phenomena which are generally known as the josephson effects. The contribution became an important reference point for later work in the field. This achievement represents one of the major advances recognized in physics at the time.
