Physics · 1990
Henry W. Kendall received the 1990 Nobel Prize in Physics for their pioneering investigations concerning deep inelastic scattering of electrons on protons and bound neutrons, which have been of essential importance for the development of the quark model in particle physics. This work opened new questions and influenced later research and practice. This achievement represents one of the major advances recognized in physics at the time.
