Physics · 2001
Eric Cornell received the 2001 Nobel Prize in Physics for the achievement of bose-einstein condensation in dilute gases of alkali atoms, and for early fundamental studies of the properties of the condensates. This work opened new questions and influenced later research and practice. This achievement represents one of the major advances recognized in physics at the time.
