Laws of Genetic Inheritance
Mendel discovered how traits pass from parents to offspring through discrete units we now call genes. By breeding pea plants, he revealed patterns of dominant and recessive traits. Though ignored during his lifetime, his work became the foundation of genetics, explaining heredity mathematically and enabling everything from crop improvement to understanding genetic diseases.
